Just another update from Oahu

Hello everyone! This past week has been very relaxing. Jeff has been on house hunting leave for the last 9 days (I know weird because we already have a house) but having him home has been awesome. We have been working hard to put more boxes away and get more organized. I finally sat down last night and fixed the mess with my pictures that the movers created. Jeff bought me a desk to use for homework. I love it. I feel so much more focused and my brain is happy. I hung Krysti Litt's painting above it because the colors are relaxing. (Krysti is one one of my best friends who lives in San Diego).

Have any of you heard of Lanikai Beach? It's just south of us here in Kailua. One of my friends suggested it to me because the sand is like baby powder. (Thanks Jacqie). I do believe Jeff and I have found our favorite beach. It's constantly in America's top ten beaches list. We are lucky to live so close!

Oh I almost forgot to tell all of you... I got a job! I'll be working at "Zippy's" as the hostess with the mostess to start as then picking up serving shifts. I'm still getting adjusted to the culture and food here so I thought taking it easy to start with was a great idea. I honestly don't know what half of the stuff on the menu is. It's down the street from our house so transportation won't be an issue. After a while with a steady income I will be able to purchase a car and widen my horizon on what jobs I can take. I'd like to get into a busy nice restaurant over in Waikiki where the real money is at. Monday through Friday full time office jobs really don't interest me...plus I lose weight when I'm running around all of the time.
And soon I'm getting two kitties! Jeff said as soon as i get a job and organize the pet deposit with the landlord we can make it happen. Our landlord's name is Muhtadia. She lives next door to us. She's a really nice Hawaiian lady. The neighbor mentality is awesome here...everyone says hello to you and asks how your day is going. It's the type of building where you can knock on anyone's door and ask for a cup of sugar. I like that. But back to the kitties...I haven't decided if I'll get kittens or cats...it just depends who i fall in love with! They are so desperate for cat adoptions here that the Honolulu shelter is doing "buy one get one free" for $65 bucks. Considering that they come microchipped (which is the law here btw...all pets must be microchipped) spayed and nuetered...that's a deal. I CAN'T WAIT!! I miss my Lily kitty soooOoOooo much. Erin has her with her cat Gabbs and her boyfriend's cat Rufus. She says they all love each other and that Lily is the queen of the house.
