Tsunami Siren

I'm sure most of you have been hearing a lot about the tsunami that hit the Samoas earlier this week. We did have a tsunami warning here but it was cancelled within two hours of the quake. (They did end up keeping people out of the water for a while and the sea level did rise for a short time). I want everyone to know that if another tsunami warning does occur, the earthquake would have to originate from the Mexico to Alaskan coastline for us to take a direct hit from a wave. Note the picture's highlighted red area.

And even if the wave does come from that direction, we live one mile inland and on the 6th floor of a 17 floor building. So no need to worry! Jeff and I have discussed in detail that if we feel an earthquake anywhere on the island, we will be running for the hills immediately.
After all of the hype was over for the day, our building decided it would be the perfect opportunity to test our tsunami siren. I've been trying to videotape it ever since I heard it the first time so all of you could hear it...and I was successful! It is very similar to the fire siren in Lemoore but instead of going up and down in pitch, it goes up and stays there. This is a link to hear it on my youtube account...I don't know how to post videos on this blog yet.
